ADB Vice-President Visits Federated States of Micronesia and Marshall Islands

Asian Development Bank (ADB) Vice-President C. Lawrence Greenwood, Jr. will visit the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and the Republic of the Marshall Islands this week to discuss ADB's assistance programs in both countries.

During his visit to FSM and RMI, Vice-President Greenwood will discuss with Heads of State, senior government officials, as well as civil society and private sector representatives, ADB’s assistance programs, including infrastructure initiatives, private sector development, and economic management.


In particular, the Vice-President will look for opportunities to strengthen ADB's country programs in the two countries. Vice-President will also visit ADB projects.

Vice-President Greenwood was appointed to his current post in December 2005. He is responsible for ADB’s operations in the Pacific, Southeast Asia, and East Asia. A career diplomat for nearly 30 years, Vice-President Greenwood has extensive experience in Asia and the Pacific, international finance, development, trade, and investment.

Since FSM became a member in 1990, it has received eight loans for $75.14 million and 43 technical assistance activities totaling $23.68 million.

RMI joined ADB in 1990. Since then, ADB has approved 12 loans for $78.13 million and 46 technical assistance grants for $18.76 million.

ADB, based in Manila, is dedicated to reducing poverty in the Asia and Pacific region through inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth, and regional integration. Established in 1966, it is owned by 67 members – 48 from the region.
